At Honalee Farms, we are proud to raise a beautiful flock of Katahdin hair sheep. We added these wonderful animals to our farm family in 2018, and they have proven to be the perfect fit for our commitment to sustainable, low-input agriculture.

Katahdins are a unique, hardy American breed developed to thrive naturally without the need for shearing. Instead of thick wool, they grow a sleek coat of hair that they naturally shed each spring.

Naturally Low-Maintenance: No shearing and no tail-docking mean a happier, more natural life for the sheep and a more efficient operation for us.
Climate Resilient: Their adaptable coats mean they stay cool and comfortable in the heat of summer and grow a thick, protective undercoat for the winter.
